World Racer Morgan McKeown loves being surrounded by
people. She loves listening to people and finds joy in the fact that both
friends and strangers often open up and share their lives with her. She has
been through many tough times, but considers her ability to empathize worth the
pain.
Life has not always been easy for Morgan. At age 14 her
life was a mess - depression, bulimia, suicidal thoughts, and toxic
friendships. But a mission trip to Tijuana, Mexico radically changed
her.
After graduating from college, Morgan took a position as
a junior high and high school youth director at a church in San Diego. Gradually
working in the church became more of a job than a ministry. Instead of seeking
God daily, Morgan began catering to the demands of the people around her and
somehow, lost Christ in the midst of ministry. The "burn-out monster" was
rearing its ugly head.
In November, 2005, a relationship she thought was going
to end in marriage abruptly ended; problem after problem was surfacing at work.
Morgan felt more ineffective every day: "I was tired all the time and just
wanted to numb the hurt. I felt chained down and was not able to use my gifts,
or find my voice. Day after day I sobbed to God, asking him to take the hurt,
wondering if the season of heart-wrenching agony would ever end."
It was through a time of brokenness and deep
soul-searching that Morgan discovered The World Race and realized it was a part
of God's plan for her life. As one life season came to an end, a journey
beckoned; a new journey that rekindled the excitement to share God's love
through overseas mission work.
After half a year on the World Race, Morgan is going
strong. If you've checked out her top-rated blog, you can see her passion on
display.
While Morgan's people skills vaulted her to a position
of leadership on the World Race, it has not been easy. Getting all the strong
personalities on her team to come together in unity has taken a lot of backbone
and a lot of tears. On many an occasion she wished someone else had the
position.
But Morgan has come shining thru and has learned so much
in the process. People almost always know that she loves them and is for them.
Whatever God calls her to do when the race is over, it's safe to say that she'll
lead with love.

World Race '07 begins January 4th!
Seven teams will be racing from the top of Mexico to the heart of the
Mayan jungle. The winning team gets to the top of Palenque's tallest
pyramid first. Stephanie Fisk is leading one of the teams.

Stephanie Fisk is ready to walk the world in someone else's shoes.
Whether she's checking out the flavors at a local ethnic restaurant, traveling through Native American reservations, or sharing coffee with a lonely truck driver, Stephanie's heart pours out love for people.
Growing up in a small town in the rural Midwest, Stephanie's first encounter with service ministry opened her eyes to a world in need.
Her sleeping heart was awakened as Stephanie launched into action, co-founding a non-profit ministry called Latreia. The goal: "to serve God while serving others."
With a pre-med/Spanish degree, Stephanie considered herself to be an unlikely candidate for ministry.
However, her passion to dislodge ignorance and discover truth caused Stephanie's heart to expand with compassion as she spread the truth of God's love on a year-long journey throughout 48 of the continental United States.
Traveling in a fifteen passenger van, she and her teammates shared food with the homeless, told prisoners about the hope of God, built
ramps in the Appalachians, prepared meals in the galley of a WW II ship, listened to the lonely stories of elderly men and women, played ball with kids in
inner city Chicago, and were warmly welcomed into the homes of "strangers" all
over the US.
Never content to settle, Stephanie is now preparing to embark on a year-long journey taking her through 11 different nations of the world. She enjoys inner city life, Mexican Tamales, and hanging out at local coffee shops in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Stephanie has traveled to some of the poorest places in the world, finding the compassion of Christ and the broken heart of a Creator for his marred and twisted creation.
She has been overseas to Haiti, Guyana, Mexico and Canada and enjoys learning about new cultures - their language, traditions, music, and food.

Her heart, as she puts it, is to "learn how to minister in a culturally sensitive way in order to become most effective in sharing God's love with people from all nations!"
This compassionate and innovative soul is embarking on a journey that will not only change other people's lives, but hers, as well.
She is a forerunner for her generation, inspiring thousands to follow in her footsteps, abandoning comfort and worldly success to fulfill her heart's deepest desire - to serve.

2006 was a year from hell for
Clinton White. A happily married youth minister of a church in Mississippi, Clinton admits, "My life was pretty
normal - I hadn't been forced to deal with much pain in my life. That was
before Hurricane Katrina hit."
White fought back to help heal a broken community. Many members of his congregation
had lost their homes; so, White began organizing relief efforts. But then in
March, White's world caved in.
White lost his wife to complications from
cystic fibrosis in March of 2006. Due to the nature of her illness, they had talked many times about what Clinton's life without her would look like. Both felt he would serve overseas at some point.

In joining the World Race, Clinton is not only fulfilling his dream, but he believes that he is doing so with Kim's blessing.
He became a Christian, because "a radical hippie couple" brought a bus out into
the "boondocks" of Mississippi
where he was raised.
Having spent much of his adult life in student ministry, White is a spirited
adventure-seeker and lover of the outdoors.

At forty-two years old, he may not be your
"typical" World Racer but says that he feels most alive when he is surrounded
by teenagers and young people.

Of his students, Clinton
says, "I've spent all these years teaching them to hear God and encouraging
them to obey and follow Him no matter what; to take risks for Him and live life
without regrets.
"Now they get to see me live that lesson."
An example of God's unconditional call, this broken warrior says that he could have been voted "least likely to become a minister or missionary." He credits his journey around the world to the Almighty's sense of humor.
Reflecting on this year and the baptism of fire through which God has carried
him, Clinton
says he loves being broken, "not because it feels good, but because it's then that
I have the heart of Christ."

World Race '07 begins January 4th! Seven teams will be racing from the top of Mexico to the heart of the Mayan jungle. The winning team gets to the top of Palenque's tallest pyramid first. Scott Molgard is leading one of the teams.
World Race leader, Scott Molgard, is a former body builder,
a man's
man, a true "Braveheart" of the faith. He is about to leave for Mexico on a year's journey around the world to find the essence of Jesus' gospel - the importance of roughing it and depending wholly on God.
As a personal trainer, Molgard has always been up for a challenge since a very young age. Remembering quite well a childhood memory of his first cast iron dumbell, Scott is no stranger to what it means to persevere - physically, mentally, and spiritually. He even worked as a mover for a few years to pay the bills.
The son of missionaries in Bolivia,
Scott humoorously labels himself a "Christian since conception." As years passed and he discovered his passion for exercise, he pursued his desires for adventure with football, hiking the Appalachian Trail, wrestling, and Strongman competitions.
Scott even claims that he "spent a couple years training and dreaming of fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championships," until he realized, "I don't like getting hit."
Although Scott may spend plenty of time in the gym, he doesn't find his identity there.
He confesses that his pursuit of becoming a "real man" has been much like a grasping of the wind. He is fed up with the lie of magazines that tell him he can have a perfect body and the lie of many churches that tries to prescribe the way to spiritual perfection.

"I go to church, I see the image of happy perfect christians. So I
think I should pray more, go to more groups, volunteer for more, to try
to feed this god I have set up of the image of the Christian man I want
to be." Molgard admits he is still trying to grasp grace.
Equipped with a degree in Exercise Physiology and a heart for seeing people healthy, Scott has spent the past 5 years setting his own schedule as a personal trainer.
Now married, Scott and his wife Linnea, will be leaving their beloved Sequoia, an English mastiff, as they launch into a new season of their life together, tackling a whole new challenge.

Not one to mince words or be overly glossy with the things he says, Scott communicates the message of Christ in a down-to-earth fashion that is refreshing: "It seems like life is all about the ups and downs, one mountain top after another following God, but the valleys and ups and downs really suck. I have learned this is where character is built, and it is always worth pressing on, because God always has something for us next."
Scott is a formidable champion not because of how much he can bench press or how many contests he may have won, but because he is a surrendered servant of the King who is going out to set the captives free. Inspired by John Eldredge and others, he is ready to cast off the arrows that have been slung in his heart over the years and fight like a "warrior poet."
While Scott continues to
discover his destiny, he anticipates
that the next 11
months will be an integral part of the journey. "I expect this to be not only a lifestyle change, or life-changing
experience, but I expect who I am to be changed."

Jonathan Hiebert is a Canadian who is always on the go. An "early to
rise and late to bed" kind of guy, he hates wasting a minute out of the day. He does not want his time on earth to be
squandered.
Having just graduated with a diploma in Horticulture, Hiebert confesses that he
needs more challenging work than landscaping can offer. "Not that pulling weeds isn't a great way to
make a living," he says, "but I know there's something more for me out there."
When not jumping out of airplane, traveling, or
running marathons, he can be pretty profound.
There's something poetic about this thrill-seeker. "We weren't called to save souls," he
declares. "But to go and make disciples of all nations."
Growing up just outside of Vancouver, Hiebert is the youngest in a supportive
family of five. Before he decided to go
on the World Race, he had been sharing a house with four other guys in what he
calls "the ghetto."
Ever the frugal one, he enjoys riding his bike, "It makes me feel better about the
impact on the environment and it's my way of responding to high gas prices."
During World Race training camp, Hiebert showed his teammates what it is to
push the envelope, organizing a pizza eating contest followed by a race.

He realizes that any success he encounters on the World Race cannot and will
not be done on his own strength.
His humility, zeal for the Lord, and wanderlust will undoubtedly lead him
through some fantastic encounters out on this pilgrimage for which he was
created.
Ever the accomplished traveler, Hiebert has been to Europe, Africa, and Asia. Now, he is seeking
more than a short-term missions trip - he wants a challenge, an adventure. He wants to begin reaching the world with
God's love, building his own life story in the process.
As the World Race lines up to the starting line this
week, you can bet Hiebert will be running hard.

Fearlessness never had so paradoxical a package as Sarah Bullers, a 2007 World Race missionary.
Whether going toe-to-toe with a scorching 40-foot wall of flame, plummeting out of an airplane, or scaling a rock face, Bullers is a vigorous force of nature.
At 5'3" and a little more than 100 pounds, she tackles feats that make grown men's knees knock. Seeing this ability, her firefighting supervisors put her in charge of an eight person team this past summer.
Hooked on adventure, she has spent her summers chasing fire and her winters snowboarding. In the mean time, she's been earning a college degree in Resource, Recreation and Tourism, and Ecology.
Raised on a farm in Idaho with two older brothers, she naturally fell into the role of a tomboy. At age five, she began following hard after Jesus Christ and never looked back.
Even at a young age, Bullers was fascinated by those who gave their hearts and lives to the lost. When she was in kindergarten, her teacher asked her what she wanted to do when she grew up. Without hesitation, she answered, "I want to save the starving orphans in Africa." Now, she will.

Bullers humbly admits that she is probably the least experienced in vocational ministry to go on a trip like the World Race, but her heart burns with intense, radical zeal to see the love of Christ sweep across the nations.
Over the last several months, she has been preparing for her trip around the world, which has included eating a grasshopper to acquire food for her "starving" teammates at a mock refugee camp. Buller's boldness and daring attitude is will serve her team well in the mission field.

Bullers tries to focus on ministry every day, whether it be at school, work, or on the street. And now the Lord is taking her compassionate, willing heart and sending her to the nations.
With no previous experience in missions, Sarah is stepping out into the unknown, knowing that God does not seek the "qualified" but qualifies those whom he calls.

The bottom came for Jennifer when she looked death straight
in the face and fled in terror. Now
death flees as Jennifer raises her voice to command life into a culture and
generation of comatose warriors.
Being raised in a dysfunctional family seems to be the norm
in today's culture, but Jennifer's upbringing blows away your typical family
counseling session.
Raised by a father
who turned the rage of his alcohol on his wife by repeatedly beating her near
death, Jennifer's mom responded in kind by returning the beatings from her
husband to her own children.
Fatherless and faithless, Jennifer turned to the acceptance she found in drugs,
alcohol, and promiscuity. She paved her own way in life, making the most
of every binge and high,
ultimately finding herself devastated by the havoc she'd wrought through her
own sin.
Her need for something more drove her further
into drugs, until Jennifer found that her crack-cocaine addiction stole more
than just money from her. Having lost
her husband and son, Jennifer was still searching for something to
satisfy.

Living life for a moment of satisfaction took ownership over
Jennifer, as she turned her body over to prostitution. Her lifestyle held Jennifer prisoner as she
became paranoid and schizophrenic, unable to sleep, eat or even stand up.
As all hope faded, she made one plea to be saved from the life she had made for
herself. Jennifer broke free and
surrendered her life to Christ. A father
full of grace has restored Jennifer's relationships with her son and parents.
She reflects, "I am no longer the victim but the victor. As I look back in
retrospect, I see the fingerprints of God all over my life. He has protected me
and preserved me to be His Will. The next season of my life is upon me.

"As I prepare
to travel the world, making disciples of
all the nations, I expect amazing things to happen! God promises nothing less to whomsoever will;
that's me, and it can be you too!"
